We know nothing yet about Governor Jim Douglas's gardening plans or practices. We DO know, thanks to this story, that there's a grassroots movement pushing for 280-square-foot vegetable garden on statehouse grounds (but not governor's mansion - is there one?) Seeds, fencing and other materials have been donated to the cause. A new Capitol Complex Commission met in April to consider the notion.
Oh, and that there are compeptitive juices flowing in the state - they're trying to beat California's Maria Shriver to the punch (she's committed to a vegetable garden on the capital grounds).
RESULTS
No word yet on sustainable landscaping. No word yet on growing food.
